OUR MISSION
|
The primary objective of the FUNCTIONAL SPINE CENTER, P.A. is to offer the patient base a professional staff and superior facility. We strive to set the standard in chiropractic care and rehabilitation, by providing the most advanced techniques and equipment to facilitate a safe and expedient recovery and return to work and/or activity. |
EVIDENCE-BASED
|
Evidence-based medicine is the "conscientious, explicit, and
judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the
care of individual patients. The practice of evidence based medicine
means integrating individual clinical expertise with the best
available external clinical evidence from systematic research."(1)
Evidence-based chiropractic integrates the best, and most recent,
available research, clinical expertise of the chiropractor(s), and
the individual values of each patient. The process is dynamic and
actively seeks support and improvement. Clinical decision making is
supported by research thereby enhancing the knowledge and skills of
the chiropractor(s) to produce quality and effective patient care.

PATIENT-CENTERED
|
Patient-centered care is defined as "health care that establishes a
partnership among practitioners, patients and their families (when
appropriate) to ensure that decisions respect patients’ wants, needs
and preferences and solicit patients’ input on the education and
support they need to make decisions and participate in their own
care."(1) Less than 10 percent of medical decisions are made with
participation of a fully informed patient.(2) The Functional Spine
Center will make every attempt to inform each patient of examination
findings, treatment plans, and prognosis, allowing time for
questions and concerns to be addressed. The chiropractors of the
Functional Spine Center will demonstrate what information was used
to reach our decisions, as well as, discuss risks, benefits, and
overall understanding of the information provided. 1. Hurtado MP, Swift EK, and Corrigan JM. Institute of Medicine (IOM). CHIROPRACTIC CARE
| Chiropractors specialize in evaluation and treatment of mechanical low back pain, neck pain, headaches and other musculoskeletal (muscle, bone, joint) conditions. Using spinal manipulation as one of many tools, the Functional Spine Center is focused on the integration of rehabilitative care in the treatment process. The evidence-based, patient centered concept enables patients to take an active role in recovery. Athletes, laborers, office workers, and those performing repetitive tasks, can benefit from our methods. FSC strives to educate our patients and help them return to independent function. Patients are taught self-management tactics and stabilization techniques in an effort to prevent injury re-occurrence, decrease pain, promote movement, and improve flexibility. |
